Balancing work and play

Posted on March 8, 2007 |

One of the hardest things about working at home is achieving that balance between being a parent, working your business, and still have some decent time to yourself. To do this takes a conscious effort to set aside time for each bit.

Well, this weekend, I managed to do just that… which means you can do it too. It so happened I had a social event on every day of last week. Not something I planned but everything just sorta fell into place.

Of course my ezine list also chose this time to act up. I spent the weekend installing and testing out a new mailing list manager from scratch. Then I got carried away doing some long overdue maintenance on the bounce email addresses, which I figured might be the culprit behind the list manager problem.

So it was a weekend of both work and play. But I was surprised how I managed to spend so much time away from my PC and not suffer withdrawal symptoms, you know. It almost feels like I deserve an award (LOL).

I guess the fact that being away was a lot of fun helped - eating out, getting all dressed up, chatting with friends and family. It was like a breath of fresh air. When I finally returned to my PC Monday morning, I felt much more creative and rejuvenated? (I’m trying to find the right word here LOL).

If you’re feeling like something is missing from your work at home life, like you were meant for more than this, maybe all you need is a break from your online life! It’s worth a try. Don’t get stuck in the rut. There’s plenty of action offline and some of it could be just the creative juice yo need for your online business.
