Weed your ad copy and get your ad read

Posted on April 5, 2007 | Leave a Comment

One of the things I frequently come across with the ads submitted by advertisers is that they contain a lot of spam trigger words.

Now if you are paying good money for an ad, you’d also want to ensure your ad successfully reaches the inbox of your target audience, not their spam folder where they’ll be flushed out without ever being read.

If you’re familiar with the trigger words, I say that’s great. Spend a few minutes weeding your ad copy of those nasty words and either swapping them with non-trigger ones or disguising them.

Or you can take the shortcut and have the weeding done for you. Just cut and paste your ad copy into an online spam checker and it’ll tell you what needs fixing. My personal favorite is the one from Lyris.com which is easy and quick to use. It only takes an instant for the results to come back to you and they also email you a copy that you can use to reference later if you don’t have time to get everything fixed in one sitting.

A good way to maximize the odds of your ad being read is to run your ad through a spam checker. It only takes a minute and it saves you blowing your advertising budget on ads that may end up in the filter bin.
