The indispensable man

We all know no one is indispensable in an organization. Yet there are people who go out of their way to make themselves indispensable by hogging everything and not letting anyone else help.
This reminds me of a ex-colleague who did just that. In fact, it would appear that nothing could proceed in the office without him, simply because no one had a clue as to the projects he was handling.
On one occasion, he was home sick for the day when the boss called for a progress meeting. Since no one knew enough to report on his behalf, the boss had to haul him into the office, portable oxygen concentrator and all, just to find out the progress of his project. Duh!
