Beware, fake Google web page

Posted on August 30, 2007 | 2 Comments

Google users, take note that there’s a piece of malicious code out there that’s redirecting users to a fake Google web page.

Here are the tell-tale things to be on the lookout for:

1. The fake Google page has a line where they will ask you to “click here to download an add-on that will make Google run properly”. Do NOT click on the link!

As you know, the Google web page is pretty bare as it is so there is no reason that it needs anything to help it run any better than it already does. So Google will never ask you to download anything.
2. If you look on the top right of the malicious page, you will see a text link that says “Advertise on this page”. Google does not allow advertising on its main page so this is a sure sign that something is fishy about this page.

So be on the alert for this! Don’t get caught out.

thanks bro. also i was on pogo (dangerous website) and it lead me to a google which was obviously not google. first of all, it only had a search engine, so it couldn’t search for images or anything. secondly it an unusual image on it. it had a picture of diamonds that ive never seen on google before. and it said wait one more thing, click here. that would lead you to download something without your permission. and lastly you couldn’t type in a website address at the top to go somewhere else. so basiclly what im saying is, if a website pops up saying wait click here or anything unusual then exit the website immediately
lol sorry for the long comment :|
