When is it time to consider a contingency plan?

Now that my home business has been running for a few years, I’m considering incorporating a contingency plan into my overall business plan. One of the things I’ve been thinking about is to sign up with another broadband service provider.
There’ve been times in the past when my internet connection was down for a few days. You see, when your business is fairly new and sales are few and far between, disruptions like these are still tolerable.
But not when business is going well, you really don’t want to jeopardize your sales by having equipment fail on you. So it’s time to think about building some redundancy into your business plan.
The cost is something I still need to work out though. As you know, managing a home business well is all about keeping costs as low as possible without sacrificing quality of delivery. I’ll be posting more about this after I give it some thought.
