Banking convenience or is it?

A new bank has just opened near my house and so it makes more sense to bank there than drive drive halfway across town. I know I probably should have just gone in and opened an account without a second thought since it’s so near.
But then I decided I should do my homework and compare saving accounts of a couple of other banks in the vicinity. Frankly there’s not much difference these days, and current accounts don’t do much for me because I don’t issue checks very often.
I didn’t sign up for online banking because of a bad experience I had with another bank previously. They issued everyone an online account for a trial period, and later tried to impose bank charges on us. The public raised a big hue and cry over being charged to do our own banking and finally they withdrew the charges.
At any rate, this bank is so near I probably won’t need online banking. I can just pop in any time and it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
