Is it okay to combine business with pleasure?

While most of us work from home with barely any opportunity for business travel, there may still be some small-time travel to attend a business convention a couple of cities away maybe or to join a bloggers’ meeting some place nearby.
There’s a new trend now that’s very different than how most of us were brought up to think about business. This new and very welcome trend is to have fun on your business travel.
I’ve mentioned before in another post that many of us tend to think of business in all seriousness. But it’s now becoming a trend to combine business with pleasure. Indeed it’s even okay to combine business with pleasure.
So when you’re out attending that convention or business meeting, don’t confine yourself to the convention center and your hotel lobby. Look for social and cultural events in the local scene that you can be a part of.
Take in the local sights. Savor the local cuisine. Talk to the locals and participate in their sporting and social events. In other ways, hang out and have a great time.
You’ll be surprised how much more refreshed you will feel by the time you get back. And when it’s time to return to the grind, you may be able to use some of the ideas you’ve gathered from the trip, and you may have some new potential customers up your sleeve.
