Focus on the benefits, not the features

The season of shopping has officially begun. If you have run an ecommerce site or are an eBay seller, this is the time to advertise like crazy and hope to make a ton of sales.

Remember to focus on the benefits of your product as opposed to its features. The features are the physical characteristics about the product that make it work well.

The benefits, on the other hand, are about how using your product could enhance the life of your customer. People most often make purchase decisions based on emotions, so by appealing to the emotions of your customer, you increase the chances that they will buy.

For instance, if you were promoting a popcorn machine, instead of talking about its ability to churn out lovely golden popcorn, you’d want to emphasize that it’s the best thing ever for bringing the family together over a movie and popcorn.
