Is eBay for you?

Of late, I’ve been thinking of starting a small retail business online. Seeing the successes of others has once again got me thinking about possibly selling on eBay.
It looks easy enough and you can pretty much sell anything under the sun from old Coke cans to lingerie to homes! In fact, I was so enthusiastic about it at one time that I created an account and listed a number of products.
But I quickly realized it’s not as easy as I thought, especially in the beginning when no one knows you and you don’t have a proven track record yet. I mean, there’re so many sellers and so many products and competition is very stiff.
So you really have to be prepared to put in a lot of hard work and long hours into taking good photos, writing good descriptions of your products, promoting them and driving traffic to your site.
I’m not saying it can’t be done. Many of the power sellers have done it and that’s proof enough. I’m just saying you have to be patient, not get discouraged and give up easily.
