Should you track your employee’s every move?

These days, it seems you don’t have to do very much any more to get fired from your job. When I first read about Big Brother monitoring employee’s emails, I remember thinking wow, that’s not good.
Now with the increasing popularity of blogs, it’s blogs that could get you fired. For those whose jobs require them to travel and be out on the field, Big Brother could be using GPS Tracking to monitor where you’re at.
I find it all a bit disconcerting. I’m sure many people feel this way too. It’s unnerving for employees to feel like someone’s looking over their shoulders all the time, watching their every move and closely monitoring what they’re doing.
It’s different than if you were employing GPS tracking to make sure your kids are safe and to know where they’re at so you can go to their aid if they’re in any sort of danger.
But if you’re using it on your employees, it’s equivalent to not trusting them to do their job that you have to constantly be on their backs checking, you know.
I tend to consider as an invasion of privacy unless that particular employee has created a bad track record that justifies his/her being monitored in this manner.
