Desperate times

Posted on January 17, 2009 | 1 Comment

I just read that a shopping mall which is now struggling with lack of tenants has offered to rent out their store space at 99 cents per month! *faints*

If that isn’t being desperate, I don’t know what is. Yep, desperate times call for desperate measures and it shows. There are promoters shoving flyers in my face as I hurry past them at the malls.

Then there are the unsolicitated calls asking to provide me term life insurance quotes and offering discounts on premiums. And you wouldn’t believe the amount of phone and email spam I receive each day promising great deals and major discounts.

It’s not that I don’t sympathesize with people trying to make an honest living, just that I’m inclined that 50% of them are scammers out to make a quick buck at my expense. What say you?

A 99-cents per month is unbelievable. Yes, I would faint, too. Thankfully, my phone is not listed but I get a fair amount of spam thru email. *sigh*
