drooling over Swiss watches

I know it’s a couple of days after Mother’s Day but if I’d found this website sooner, I might’ve been tempted to buy myself a baume mercier watch if the price is right.

Well, for one thing, Swiss watches aren’t called timepieces for nothing. I may have been under my shell too long because I haven’t heard of Baume and Mercier before this.

But they do have an interesting history. Back in 1830, two brothers, Louis Victor Baume and Pierre Joseph Celestin Baume, started a business who grew and became so successful that it went on for a couple of generations.

In 1918, Louis Victor’s grandson, William Baume, was running it and was joined by a new business partner, Paul Mercier, hence the name Baume and Mercier.

I visited their site at ViaLuxe.com where they have watch collections for both men and women. They have so many designs that if I really had to choose one, I’d have a hard time deciding.

I think that’s the thing with us women sometimes. We see one watch and when we look at another one, we think, wow, this one’s nice too. And then pretty soon, they’re all nice in their own way and we want them all  .

want a piece of the high life?

My entire head’s been swimming in glamor these past few weeks. I’ve been watching entirely too many fashion shows.

Those models strutting their stuff on the runway are all young and beautiful. I wonder if they know they could $10,000 at Look of the Year, a beauty contest open to anyone in the world.

Glamor and the spotlight is something all young women dream about. Getting on Look of the Year could get them spotted by some modelling agency.

If you’ve had dreams of living the high life, why don’t you go try your luck at http://www.lookoftheyear.com.

great weather to be out

We finally had a change of weather. It’s cool but hazy today which is a big improvement over hot and humid. It was great weather to be running errands without having to dress up like an alien to avoid the sun.

I was out all day going from one grocery store to another trying to compare prices and find the best bargains. At the end of the day, I’m not sure if it was worth it spending all that time and effort to save a few bucks. But I had fun, I guess that’s the important thing  .

let them try it for a week

Staying at home with the kids is not as easy a job as many people think it is. They think, oh, there’s no stress, no pressure, life just hums along.

But if they were to just experience one week as a stay-at-home mother, I’m bet they’ll have a whole different story to tell.

These people would probably be downing cup after cup of kava kava to help relieve them of some of the stress of running in and out of the house endlessly, picking up one kid, dropping off the other, cooking lunch, doing the laundry, cleaning up after the kids, helping with homework… you get the picture.

sweet bananas

Bananas are always in season and I bought a whole bunch of them last weekend. They were green when I bought them.

But due to the high heat and humidity we’re having here at the moment, they ripened within a day.

They were wonderfully sweet and I just couldn’t stop popping one into my mouth every time I went into the kitchen.

Thursday, yay!

It’s Thursday, yay! The weekend’s closing in. I can’t wait to get my feet up. I missed gym yesterday and today so I’m getting fidgety.

Quite honestly, once you get going, it sorta becomes a part of your routine, something you got to do every day and if you don’t, it’s like you’re missing something. Know that feeling?

Well, I can’t wait to go tomorrow…

of stocks and lucky stars

I’m sure we all know someone who’s involved in stock options trading. I know many people do nothing but. Yes, these folks are serious.

They arm themselves with the fastest laptops and the latest software and gadgets to sort, filter and analyze stock options and then make a killing.

It’s a popular way for people who work at home to make some pocket money though some of them do end up making a bundle. I admire these people but the stock market has its ups and downs and some have been badly burnt in the process.

So you need to know what you’re doing and have the lucky stars on your side  .

my thoughts on Mother’s Day

Will you be celebrating Mother’s Day? It being on a Sunday, I’ll probably let the kids buy me a Sausage McMuffin if they tell me they want to celebrate. But only because I don’t want to be a wet blanket.

While it’s nice to have a day set aside just to recognize and celebrate mothers for everything they do, I believe we should teach our kids to appreciate their mothers every day of the year.

drink tea to de-stress

I love drinking tea. Many of you know that. Each day, I actually brew a different type of tea for a bit of variety.

So one day, it could be oolong, the next, Earl Gray, and then Japanese green tea. I have a cupboard full of tea to choose from.

I find that drinking tea calms me down. It’s a bit of a comfort drink for me. No matter how busy I am, a few sips of tea as I’m headed out the door actually perks me up.

Try drinking tea if you’re stressed. It’s also got a ton of other health benefits so you may be getting more good out of it than you bargained for  .

protect your computer with security software

These days, with the number of malicious ware flying around, it’s best not to download file attachments and documents that you receive from friends and people in general without first scanning them for viruses and spyware.

The risk of them being infected is pretty high because people don’t seem to think very much about keeping their computers protected from malicious ware. They’re more worried about their laptops, etc being stolen.

Even if they have NOD32 security software installed, for example, they often forget to keep it updated with the latest definition files. So the newest malicious ware can still get through. So the thing is to be diligent with updates and upgrades as well.
