Gimme A Break

I have a wedding to attend at the end of this month and I desperately need to do some shopping. The bride is a cousin of mine and I’m thinking of getting her an invicta swiss watch as a wedding gift. Do you think that’s a good idea?

My son needs a new pair of shoes and he’s been wanting a pair of asics sneakers like forever . So I guess he needs to take a look at what designs they have.

As for me, I’ve been wanting to check out some hush puppies shoes for myself. They’re very comfortable and goodness knows I need shoes that don’t bite for the amount of running I do to keep up with things in this household.

So that’s my plan for the weekend. I could get squished at the mall or I could save myself some trouble by shopping online at become.com. What do you think?

This morning, I had to drop off my daughter at the mall for her movie date with a few of her girl friends from school. I thought I’d do a bit of shopping there myself before heading home.

Well, guess what? I spent a half hour circling in the parking lot and there was not a single parking spot. Well, if I was looking for a spot, so were a hundred other cars all circling around like me !

After a half hour, I got really impatient and decided to just drop my daughter off, pay the dollar for parking and leave without even setting foot in the mall. What a waste of time and money!

The weekend is here and I sure could use a break. And just in time too because I stumbled upon this vacation rental commercial which really cracked me up. Yes, I needed a laugh that bad.

This guy by the name of Unitard goes around saving families from getting themselves trapped in a vacation rental that’s less than what it should be – bad service, crammed rooms, no scenic views, you get the picture.

And he tells them they don’t have to settle for less than a perfect vacation if they go over to Vacation Rental.org and pick out an entire house by the beach or on a hilltop and have themselves a vacation of a lifetime for the whole family. I hate to complain but the weather we’re having is way, way too hot. The sun is out with a vengeance and to borrow the lyrics from a song, you can run but you can’t hide from the sun.

As Chinese New Year is coming up and we’ll be out visiting friends and relatives every day, I’m thinking about getting cheap wholesale sunglasses for everyone in the family. Is that too drastic?

I’m pretty sure that this superbright sunlight can’t be good for the eyes, although I don’t have any concrete evidence. Still it’s better to protect our eyes from the extreme direct glare of the sun, what do you think?

I recently found out that my neighbor, who lives across the street from me, has a granddaughter named Natalie. The little girl must be around two years old but I remember my neighbor telling me that when her daughter was pregnant, she used to download games to play on her computer till late into the night.

At the time, I was very curious. Her daughter didn’t strike me as a computer game addict but her mother swears she does nothing all day but play the game, Natalie Brooks – Mystery at Hillcrest High. So when I found out that the woman had named her daughter after the main character in the game, Natalie.

And that’s not all. My neighbor tells me there’s another young woman down the street from us who has a daughter named Fiona. Frankly the only Fiona I remember is from the movie Shrek. But my neighbor assures me it’s not that Fiona the little girl is named after, it’s Fiona Finch and the Finest Flowers, a new computer game that’s really fun to play.

I think it’s pretty cute to name a child after a hobby or a passion. Then there will always be a story to tell when your child asks where they got their name !

I was browsing the net this morning and came across a very interesting article on Yahoo news about the Ft. Lauderdale-based law firm, American Residential Law Group which reports that it expects the number of foreclosures in the year 2010 to reach 3 million.

Joel Jacobi, founder and lead attorney for the American Residential Law Group Says Foreclosures Could Hit 3 Million in 2010 that in order to avert this, he hopes a more robust loan modification program will be implemented.

According to him, there may still be many homeowners out there who are unaware that these loan modifications are available to assist them, and that ARLG specialized in foreclosure prevention and litigation, and is committed to serving clients all across the Unite States.

The Year of the Tiger will be here in about 2 weeks. It’s not a popular year for weddings because of some superstition that I’m not even very sure of.

But for those who are not superstitious, it will probably be a blessing as there will be less competition for reception bookings, etc. Even destination weddings will be easier to book, I guess.

And we know how popular those are these days especially to exotic destinations like the Riviera Maya which is the choice of many newlyweds for the range of romantic options available.

So if you’re thinking of getting married and you’re not superstitious, consider getting down on one knee this Valentine’s Day, sweep her off her feet and away you go !!

This must the year of hypocrites. People say such ugly things to their own sister it just makes you wonder if these are family members or animals, ya know. Yes, we have an uncle in the family who’s brewing up a huge pot of family politics based on hearsay alone, just like a ninny . Don’t you just love it when men behave like wo-men??

Do you have a security system installed in your home? The festive season is round the corner again and many people will be traveling and most would feel uneasy about leaving their homes empty.

I’ve recently had a Home Security System installed. I’ve been procrastinating as it’s not within my budget. I always tell myself I’ll do it next month when I have the money.

But with a bit of searching on the internet, I found that for roughly $1 a day, I can get an ADT monitored home security system. Now that I can afford. I talked to one of the consultants and got a free evaluation and getting the entire system up and running didn’t take as long as I expected. So I’m happy I finally got around to doing it. So that’s one load off my mind.
