virtual sticky pads

I’ve been using Windows Vista for a while now. I can’t say I’ve explored its features fully. I’m pretty much using it plain vanilla at this point. Exploring will have to wait.

One of the features I’ve recently discovered (silly me!) is the sticky yellow pad that you can put up on the sidebar. It’s a godsend for someone like me. Busy equals forgetful, so this is the best thing ever.

I’m relieved I don’t have to plaster my screen with the real thing. I was considering it because of how many times I’ve forgotten to do something I was supposed to have done!

24 hours straight up

I gotta tell you, the Blogathon rocks! I’ve just spent 24 hours last Saturday with a friend blogging our socks off. Well, we raised $67 so far which wasn’t bad considering we signed up pretty late and sponsorship was slow on the whole.

We told ourselves if we raised $50, we’d be happy. Sponsorship is still open so the figure may well go up, and we hope it does. So go for it if you have a few bucks to spare.

We may have been tired and disheveled but we feel like a million bucks. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe (maybe because our minds are like melted cheese right now  ).

new-fangled advertising

I’ve been telling people blog advertising is hot, guys. It’s big, get in on it but it’s taking a little longer than I expected for people to come around to what some hesitantly call “new-fangled”.

To be honest, I’d hate to be a guinea pig too but then sometimes you gotta strike while the iron is hot, ya know what I mean?

Am I making sense here? Am I being incoherent? Aargh, please excuse me, I’ve been up all night jammin’ at the Blogathon. Strange things happen to your grey matter when it’s deprived of sweet slumber.

crooked

Earlier this year, I found out that the regular real estate broker I’d been using for years has pulled a con job. She’s pocketed money that was supposed to have come to me but which I didn’t know was mine to collect.

Too late, the fact that she’d become a friend had me trusting here. Now I know a good real estate broker isn’t easy to come by. Gotta be more careful next time.

Blogathon 2007: say hello

The blogathon is on. Started about 2 hours ago. Sorry, I should’ve posted this earlier but I was rushing around getting settled in. Understandably this is my first year and I’m really not sure what to expect.

There’s also been some last minute changes to the venue from which I will be blogging. This is great news because my girl friend has decided to join me and has kindly offered the use of her blog. So now it’s us, not just me.

Everything has been very last minute. But we’re going loosely with a music and movie trivia theme. So come on over and have some fun with us as we party all night long.

You can still sponsor us using this orange button right here. But if you get a minute, be sure to stop by and leave us a comment to cheer us on, okay?

Blogathon 2007: what should I eat?

I know, big question, huh? But hey, if I’m going to be up for 24 hours straight tonight (what? it’s tonight?), I’m going to need some energy food as well as some brain food.

Right now, I’m predicting I’ll probably be slamming my head into the keyboard before 2:00 in the morning if I don’t figure out a strategy to stay awake.

My problem is this. I’m not much of a snacker. But I know that if I can’t figure a way to distract myself from imminent slumber, I’m just going to be gone. Out like a light bulb! Good night! Bon nuit!

And on my screen, a big fat blank! Can you suggest some food, any kind of food, that can help keep me going?

By the way, if you’re feeling generous today, please take a minute to sponsor me.

do you treat all your kids the same?

I’ve noticed that in many families, the birth of a son is celebated on a larger scale than that of a daughter’s.

Take my neighbor, for example. They’ve just recently had a baby boy and their in-laws splurged on a lavish dinner party in honor of their new grandson. I don’t recall their two daughters’ births having been such a big event.

Sons are accorded more attention and are more endeared because they’re the ones who will carry on the family name. As for us girls, we’ll just end up losing our names and bearing another family’s children *sob*.

As a mom, I don’t play favorites. I treat all my kids the same. Though each child is different in personality, I love each of them in my own way and I rank them all equal. Carrying the family name has nothing to do with it.

a day in the life of a mom

I’ve been up since the crack of dawn. Once the kids were out the door, I got ready to run my errands. First to the vitamin store to restock my supply. Next to the insurance office.

Then onto to the watch store to get new watch straps and batteries for the kids’ watches. Next stop was the chicken rice shop to get some lunch to go.

The errands took three hours. I was home just in time to unload the car and grab a drink. Then it was straight back out the door again to pick up the kids from school.

We had a quick lunch at home. Finally I could sit down at my computer for half an hour to read my emails. Then I was off again spending the entire afternoon dropping off one kid and picking up the next from school activities.

Dinner, shower, bed and tomorrow we’re off again on this endless merry-go-round. I love being a mom :) .

great timing for a watch

When I was in school, I owned a Casio watch and it lasted me for years. The designs are much more modern now, of course.

You can find them at GreatTiming.com :) where they have lots of other brands as well from top manufacturers and designers. I see that many of them are pretty trendy and perfect for teens.

I looked at the prices and they are so inexpensive, heavily discounted in fact, and you get free shipping with every purchase. They ship internationally too so all you have to do is ask.

I believe in having a good watch that will survive the everyday wear and tear.

Blogathon 2007: Do good with a click

Well, here I am, happy that I secured a surprise donation from an anonymous sponsor who actually turned out to be my pal and business associate, Barbara. Thanks, Barb.

I’m finding sponsorship to be painfully slow. I’m not sure why. Have we become less charitable, or is it that we simply can’t find the time of day to stop to help someone less fortunate?

I don’t want to believe either of these reasons. I want to believe that humans are inherently good and that sometimes, we may need a kick in the butt to start thinking about someone else other than ourselves and our own busy schedules.

Hey listen, I’m still open for sponsorship. I don’t have to tell you the feel-good warmth that you will feel afterwards for helping me help someone get emergency medical attention in situations beyond their control.

The orange Blogathon button on the sidebar takes you to the donation kitty of Doctors Without Borders. Your donation does not come through me or the guys at Blogathon 2007. So you know your donation is going directly towards the good cause.

Please give a thought to someone caught in a disaster or armed conflict, and sponsor me so we can help them. I can’t do this alone. I need your support. My charity needs your support.
