Gimme A Break

My son and I left the girls at the bookstore last weekend and sneaked off to A&W for a rootbeer. We haven’t had a good talk in a long while.

We used to do it more often but somehow with all of our schedules taking off in different directions, it’s getting harder to find a time to sit down and have a long chat.

All of our chats are done on the run these days - when I pick him up or drop him off at school and activities. These are merely quick exchanges of our day and a few good laughs, nothing heart-to-heart.

These one-on-ones are a must for understanding our teens better and getting to know what’s going on in their lives. So when was the last time you had a chat with your teenager?
