careless parents

I was out at the mall yesterday and bumped into a mother desperately calling out her child’s name and looking amongst the thick crowd. Her older child, who was herself barely 4 or 5, was helping to look for the younger child.
I turned around and was going to help her search. Thank goodness, she spied the little boy at that very moment sitting on a stool in the shoe department, totally oblivious to what was going on.
It makes me wonder why parents don’t hang on to their kids when they’re in crowded places. I mean, she was lucky her child was sitting there. It could’ve been worse.
