the Backstreet Boys concert rawked!

bsb concertWhat a fantastic week we had! You would not believe I was crazy enough to go to the Backstreet Boys concert with my 3 kids.

The Backstreet Boys were here on their Unbreakable 2008 tour. This picture was taken with my PDA camera which wouldn’t zoom properly.

But what you see here is the Sunway Tower Hotel in the background. We were on the Sunway Lagoon surf beach which is a few floors down from the ground level. That’s why it looks like the hotel is sitting on top of the stage.

Well, getting caught in an electric storm and drenched to the skin can’t be all bad, can it? At least we weren’t in the sun!

We stood 3 hours in line to get in but let me tell you, it was worth every minute of the wait. The concert was truly awesome and we had a blast!

I’d just recovered from a bad flu but thank goodness I was well enough to scream and sing and dance and paaar-ty  . A great way to destress and have a great time, I say.

what kids want

I’m not sure what it is with kids but they seem to love the idea of double-decker or bunk beds. When I was a kid, I thought they were great fun too especially the upper bunk which is more private and you can create your own little nook for dolls and books.

Sometime back when I noticed that the kids’ bedding were getting a little worn and brought them along to shop for the designs they wanted, they turned around and asked for their beds to be upgraded to bunk beds instead.

I kinda liked the idea too but after we shopped around a bit, we just somehow dropped the idea and that was that. Now that they’re older, I guess the idea doesn’t sound half as appealing anymore.

Now they want their own room so they can decorate it with heaps of sports gear, assorted junk and of course, not forgetting, dirty clothes  !

the fun never ends

We were just at the Backstreet Boys’ Unbreakable tour last night, and already the kids are asking this morning when we’re going on vacation. Isn’t life grand when you’re a kid? It’s one fun thing after another.

I’m checking out a couple of our favorite beach places to go to. These certainly won’t be fancy Las Vegas hotels, just a simple break away from the city.

We’ll likely go back to the beach resort we went to last year. It offers awesome ocean views and great food within walking distance. So I might just save myself some time and stress not having to look for a new resort.

flu chop suey

I gotta tell ya, I’ve been drowning in cough syrup… practically. The weather’s been playing havoc with me.

One minute, I’ve got a sore throat so I start popping lozenges like there’s no tomorrow. The next minute, my nose gets all runny and I’m off to gobble Vitamin C’s.

Then I feel the itches of a cough coming on. Duh! So between sore throat, runny nose and cough, I’ve been juggling lozenges, Vitamin C’s and cough syrup every few hours.

I’m expecting my poor stomach to start sending signals to my brain to say, “Hey, take it easy, are you trying to make flu chop suey here?”

how I created my own logo

I remember my first attempt at creating my own business card when I first decided to freelance from home. It was probably the ugliest card ever, so boring and uncreative. It almost kept me away from logo design forever  .

Actually there is another way. I’ve just tried it out myself at LogoYes.com and it really couldn’t be easier and more fun.

First off, I get to decide what brand or image I want my card to portray – high-tech or bold or with a flair. Obviously being one so creative  , I chose flair and the next screen brought me to a whole range of industries to choose from.

As y’all know, I’m a minute-chasing mom always in a rush, the sun-dial was perfect. I wanted something cool, so a sun-dial is definitely much exciting than a regular old watch or clock.

Next I added the words Minute Chaser using a font that I thought would be casual yet legible. At the last screen, I played around with the text and images to achieve the effect I wanted.

There now, a few clicks and I was done. I can’t believe how easy and flexible it is. I made several logos until I found one that I really liked. The system pasted my logo onto different card designs.

See, I made this card all by my lonesome without needing a PhD in Logo Design. What do you think? Pretty neat, huh?

nothing like a ‘real’ home theater

home theater marqueeSo now we’ve got our leather sofa. We were almost convinced to buy the recliners as if we setting up our own home theater which we honestly weren’t.

If, at any point in time, we should be looking into our home theater, it will be when we have a house big enough to house the whole works, from the recliners to the home theater sconces to the marquee on the wall to a popcorn stand.

I look at it this way. If we’re going to have a home theater, we might as well have it decked out to the nines. No sparing any effort to getting it to look like a real theater, right?

Then we can really tell people that we’ve got our own theater at home. Now wouldn’t that make them drool, eh? Muahaha.

stress-free day

Okay, there, I’ve just wasted an entire afternoon listening to the Backstreet Boys’ “Inconsolable”. Looks like I’m hooked, I can’t stop singing and it’s all my own fault for putting on a little entertainment to brighten up my day at the computer.

I got a couple of hours’ reprieve from my bus runs because one of the kids’ activities got cancelled. So I thought I’d put on some music so I’ll be inspired to work harder.

Yeah, right! I’m so destressed now I just haven’t got much done. Did someone say a little stress is good?

due for a car wash

Gosh, it looks like the haze is back today just when I was thinking it’s about time to wash my minivan. It seems the last time I got it washed was when I was at the mechanic’s about a month ago. Since he has a power jet and a man who sits there and does nothing but does complementary car washes for his customers, I thought I’d ask.

You’re right, I shouldn’t have had to ask. I’m a customer, he should’ve done it for me anyhow. I’m not sure what criteria they use to decide which customer gets a free car wash but apparently I’m not important enough to get one without asking.

At any rate, I got my free car wash and I was happy. My minivan’s since been coated in a thin layer of dust since the weather is so hot and dry lately. I’m reluctant to wash it because it gets dirty almost right after I wash it. So why bother?
