Gimme A Break

My cell phone rings. When I pick it up, a man’s voice asks “Hello, John?”

“Who?”

“John,” he repeats.

How obvious can it get? I mean, should John have a woman’s voice or is that the norm? In fact, I would be quite worried if John had my voice! Sometimes I honestly don’t know what’s going through some people’s head (or ears).
