empty-handed
You know, every single year when I’ve gone to pay my car insurance, I’ve never let their office empty-handed. They’ve always rewarded me with a gift for being their loyal customer.
True, they’re not big expensive gifts, just little things like a face towel, an umbrella or a small backpack, just enough to make the customer feel just a little bit appreciated and to make a mental note to go back again next year. Know what I mean?
This year was different. They didn’t give me the gift I’d come to expect. I thought they’d overlooked it and decided to ask them. The clerk shook his head. I went like, no gift? He shook his head again and replied no.
Just a no, no explanations, no apologies and they let a loyal customer walk out the door… just like that. Tsk, tsk, tsk, don’t you just love wonderful customer service like that!!
