going downtown

I’m going to the city with my son today to run some errands, drat! Well, at least it’s a Saturday and the traffic won’t be as bad as the weekdays. While I’m there, I’m planning to look around and see if there are any herbs and spices I can stock up.

There are many exotic shops downtown that sell just about the strangest kinds of food on this planet, and some of them are pretty good. I’ve tried some of the herbs and spices and I love them to bits.

have a good weekend

Woo-hoo, I feel like I’ve accomplished so much this week. I went to the bank to do all the stuff I’ve been procrastinating on doing and that’s really saying something.

I did my groceries early so I don’t have to jostle with the weekend crowd. I’ve done my ironing because on hot, humid days like these, I’d rather not ruin my weekend sweating it out over the ironing board.

Well, I feel like that’s a whole load off my shoulders  . Now I can kick back and enjoy the weekend. Hope you have a good one too.

something for my new niece

I heard one of my cousins has just delivered a baby girl. Wow, that means I’m an aunt all over again. They’ve living in another city so I probably won’t get to see my little niece till her parents brings her to visit.

Even then, I have to start looking for a nice little present for her. Busy bee that I am, if I procrastinate longer, I might just forget about the whole thing and then when my cousin comes to visit, I’ll be in a panic big time  .

So knowing me, I’d better get an early start. And not a moment too soon. I’ve already found some very pretty Baby Bedding Sets online at Baby Bedding Palace. Their sets come in 12 high quality matching pieces.

I love the fact that the sets are handmade. Can you beat that? I mean, if you ask me to sit down and sew these sets, I’d be at a complete loss. Okay, I admit I can’t sew for peanuts so that makes anything handmade all the more valued.

I hope my cousins and new niece come to town soon. I can’t wait to see her. And I think my kids will be excited and thrilled.

pancake week

This is a pancake week for us. My kids love waking up to the aroma of pancakes. Well, who doesn’t? It’s been ages since I made pancakes at home after my waffle maker went kaput. Now I use the non-stick pan and I can turn the pancakes out faster than using the electric waffle maker. Yum!

fun activities and events for your kids

We have a school break coming up soon and as usual, I don’t have any plans yet. Okay, so call me procrastinator mom but I’m really busy these few weeks with the in-laws being in town and everything.

Anyhow we definitely won’t be going on any sort of fancy vacation because of my concerns over H1N1. Computer games aside, being cooped up in the house all the time will be boring for the kids.

So I’m thinking we could actually plan some activities and short trips just around the city. Wait a minute, I remember ParentsConnect.com has a neat little tool that helps parents find out what fun activities and events are going on around their local area.

I mean that’s definitely a whole lot better than looking up newspapers, sifting through flyers and calling my mommy friends for ideas. If all that information is in one place, then that’s what I’m after. Yep, anything that saves me time and effort.

Right, for parents all over the US, here’s a widget you can click on to get instant access to all the interesting ideas, events and activities in your area that the whole family can have fun and enjoy themselves.

wierd weather day

Strange weather we’re having today. The skies were hanging low and gray. It was really dark this morning at around 7am so much so that I had to turn on my car headlights. I’m not sure if it’s the haze or storm clouds.

Then two hours later, it got really really dark as if it was going to pour, and yet there was something about that stillness that said it might be something else. Again it could’ve been the haze.

Then finally the rain broke through and seemed to wash away the murkiness for a while. I’d kept my windows closed all morning to keep out the haze.

The rain was short-lived and when it stopped, I noticed that outside the trees were trembling. I opened the windows to a gush of fresh cool breeze. It was beautiful!

It’s remained gloomy and gray all day with a light breeze blowing. What a wierd day.
