ready for summer in Asia Pacific?

The kids and I were just talking about going to Melbourne, Australia for a week. OMG suddenly it’s all sounds so exciting the more we talk about it! I was there once during the Moomba Festival and it was fun. If you’re the sort that enjoys a slow, laid-back vacation, then Australia’s pace will suit you.

If our plans are to materialize, I’d better start checking out the Accor Hotels 3-Day Super Sale Asia Pacific. Well, the sale is only for 3 days from October 27 thru 30, 2009 where I’ll have over a million room nights to choose from with rates starting as low as US$30 per night, and we can plan our stays any time between December 2009 to April 2010. At such crazy low rates, I’m already starting to imagine how much I’ll save  !

Even if we change our minds about Australia, there’s still all the other exotic destinations in Asia Pacific – Thailand, Korea, China, Japan, HK, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, Bali – to choose from, each with its own unique personality and charm.

Woo-hoo, I can’t wait to start surfing I’m so excited just thinking about looking at all the hotel options available. Come to think of it, the last I visited Bali and Hong Kong, I shopped so much I almost missed my flight home!

shoes vanished!

Can you believe I lost a pair of wedge heels? Well, it simply disappeared from my car. I usually keep an extra pair of shoes in my car as I’ve been known to rush out in my slippers only to realize that oops, I haven’t even got proper shoes on  !

Hence, the extra pair of just-in-case shoes that I always keep handy. Now it’s vanished without a trace! I can’t figure out how that could’ve happened. I haven’t sent my car to the mechanic’s so that couldn’t be where I lost it. I’ve looked all over the house, inside out! Nope! What do you think?

marinara meal

I’m planning to cook up a storm again today. My girls are home and I’m just too lazy to go looking for food outside. So I reckon I’ll just whip up a simple shrimp linguine marinara at home.

We tasted this at an Italian restaurant a couple of weekends ago and it’s pretty good even with just tomato and herbs. I hardly ever make marinara at home because the kids seem to balk at it. But they seem to like the one we ate at the restaurant so I’ll make it today and see how they like my version  .

no giving up!

The long waits at the bank are often a great time to tune in to the gossips and activities going on nearby. Or at least they provide some mundane entertainment while the bank officers are dallying on their whims and fancies.

So yesterday’s juiciest bit of activity was when this lady kept asking the information desk staff about how she can invest in gold coins and she just wouldn’t stop pelting him with questions while the line behind her grew longer and more impatient. Thank goodness I wasn’t in her line!

The officer handed her a bunch of brochures to read but she refused. She only stepped aside when her cell phone rang (thank goodness!) and whoo, finally the line was moving again… at least for the length of her call! Some people!!

SOM = save my modem

It’s threatening to rain, the sound of distant thunder is getting closer. Yep, if this doesn’t sound like the opening chapter of a thriller, I don’t know what does.

Oh and don’t forget the lightning. There must be lightning. Lightning is my perfect excuse to turn off my modem, go offline and catch a little mid-afternoon snooze… till the storm blows over.

Not a good idea to get my modem nuked and self-destruct. Then it’d take too long for the ISP guys to get my connection back up. So it’s best to surrender a few hours of my online life to catch some Z’s. See ya.

sweet weather

Last week was crazy for some reason and went by so quickly I hardly noticed where the time went. Yesterday felt like a Friday and today has managed to stay the most beautiful day in the year for sleeping!

And sleep I did … till I was woken up this morning by the barks of our living alarm clock. Great, I dragged myself to the store to get some food, came back and promptly fell back asleep after lunch. It’s cool and breezy and looks like it’s about to rain any time now. Sweet! Could we have this weather all year round please?
