I mean, I hardly talk to the woman since she usually pretends not to see me. And even if I saw her, I probably won’t recognize her at the rate she changes her face.

I don’t mean that in a bad way, it’s just that she really maxes out on the fact that her boss is a plastic surgeon and is always having one part of her face or the other ‘beautified’.

First, it was her nose. She made it higher. Then it was her eyes. She made them bigger. Then it was her boobs! OMG, she had them enlarged to surprise her husband who was working overseas at the time .

So really, can you blame me if I say I can’t recognize her if she’s having some part of her body redone on a day to day basis ?

I’ve been out every single morning this week and coming home only in the afternoon. I haven’t had time to cook a single lunch this week. So we’ve been eating out. Not that my kids mind, it’s just that good food at affordable prices isn’t exactly the easiest thing to find when you live in the city.

Next week is going to  be another busy week as I have to meet someone important downtown. At the rate I’m going, I’m bound to forget something, and it looks like I may need to upgrade my system memory (yes, my brain is working overtime these days ) so I don’t mess up. Yesterday I left the house without my cell phone!! Duh!

Now they’re complaining their computers are lagging and oh so-oo slow and that they need more computer memory . Seriously these games are getting more power hungry and I’m having a hard time catching up to their hardware requirement .

The next computer fair won’t be till next year. That’s a few months’ wait and the kids know I normally don’t buy computer stuff unless there’s a sale. Right now, I really can’t afford to blow my meticulously-planned budget. Looks like my kids might just have to give up their computer games for a while.

It makes sense that many parents want their teens to use their holidays to make some pocket money. In fact, many of the more enterprising kids started their job search way ahead of the holidays and are already making money as we speak.

I let my kids decide if they want to get a part-time job outside but they prefer to stay home and try to make some money online. Let’s see how far they go with that.

My son’s finals are still on and some days, the exams start at 7am. Can you believe that? This means we have to be out the door a little after 6am to get him to college in time. Heh!

As a result, I’m pretty tired. There’ll be more running before this week is over. Won’t I be glad when the weekend comes ?!

I’m not sure if there’s an auto-mechanism that shuts off the alarm after a certain period of time. But if there is, I wish they’d set it. See, while they’re at work and totally unaware, the rest of us who are home, are driven nuts with the loud and incessant ringing!

Well, I know times are bad and probably more people will feel safer with a security system. I have nothing against people installing house alarms but I wish they would also think of their neighbors, the folks who have to endure the noise for hours till they get home!

I know it’s the thought that counts but quite frankly, I wasn’t even into exercise so what good is a pair of weights to me? Besides they were so tiny I could lift them with my little finger!

Maybe this person was recycling a gift they got from someone else which they couldn’t use. I don’t mind that, just that weights were the last things I ever expected to get as a birthday gift.

But that was then. Now that I’m a gym freak, it sure would be nice if people gave me sports gifts. It’s stuff I’d need to buy anyways so it’d be a double bonus if I got them for gifts, eh!

I’ve literally been scratching my head every time I go grocery. Sometimes we just have to close one eye and just eat in moderation. Eating out is not an option these days because food prices are up and up.

So the next best thing is to cook my kids’ favorite food at home. I cook frigthfully big portions because teens are big eaters and I hate it when I have to tell them, oh save some for your dad or sister or whatever, you know.

Of course, mom’s cooking is so good, my kids tell me, that we must have second helpings. Looks like I may need to have some weight loss pills on hand at the rate we’re pigging out !

Well, guess what, when I got there, there were orange cones and streaming tape criss-crossing the gas pumps. I opened my window and shouted across to ask one of the workmen what was happening.

He said they’d run out of gas. Huh?? What do you mean, run out of gas? I asked. Well, apparently over the weekend, the entire supply at his gas station had been guzzled up because of the drop in price.

I knew I shouldn’t have waited till the last minute. Bad idea. I went home with an empty tank and had to get up early to go fill up before my taxi runs start today.

I’m not going to link back to that old post of mine made on October 10 lest this be mistaken for a paid post, which it isn’t. Each week since then, I’ve had to peruse grocery products with a fine-toothed comb.

Like I said before, there’s really no way to tell if where each ingredient that went into make a single product comes from. Similarly if you eat out, there’s no way either to know the origins of the ingredients they use to prepare your order.

It’s interesting that this seems to tie in with a report on CNN yesterday about “who is buying food from China” which says Japan and the US are the two biggest importers, and China exports everything from garlic to apple juice to eggs.

So that confirms that it’s impossible to know where stuff comes from that goes into stuff that we continue to eat. Many products have not/will not be tested, and even if they are, some reports may not even be reliable.
