yay for retail therapy

An entire morning of shopping has left me completely zonked out today. There’s a huge sale going on and I only shop when the sales are on. I don’t believe in paying retail price if I can help it. Working from home and managing a household means I have to tighten my purse strings whenever possible.

This morning, I was like a child in a toy store. I had so many things on my list especially clothing. But clothing is probably the hardest to buy since I’m quite picky and the lines are long at both the fitting rooms and at checkout. So I ended up spending on every other thing but clothing, which wasn’t how I’d planned it!! But so be it. At least I enjoyed the retail therapy.

the weekend is here

Yay, yay, yay is all I can say! And it rhymes too. It’s been too hectic a week and I desperately need to kick my shoes off for a bit. But seeing as how that’s easier said than done, I’m not holding my breath as I’m all set to cook up a storm this weekend. Nothing special, just that we’re between school exams so we should probably stay in so the kids can get some studying and I can get some nagging done.

struggling through the rain

Today was one of the craziest days. Ever! I’ve been up since the crack of dawn and not stopped till now. I was out in the freaking electric storm picking up one kid after another. Do you have any idea how hard it is for the kids to struggle into the car with their heavy schoolbags and umbrella?

And my car ends up half-flooded from all the water brought in from the rain. Not to mention the number of traffic lights that had gone bust. And trees having toppled down from the sides of the roads onto cars that were stuck in traffic. It took us hours to get home!

no place to park

This morning, I had to drop off my daughter at the mall for her movie date with a few of her girl friends from school. I thought I’d do a bit of shopping there myself before heading home.

Well, guess what? I spent a half hour circling in the parking lot and there was not a single parking spot. Well, if I was looking for a spot, so were a hundred other cars all circling around like me  !

After a half hour, I got really impatient and decided to just drop my daughter off, pay the dollar for parking and leave without even setting foot in the mall. What a waste of time and money!

ridiculous days

Woo-hoo, guess what day it is tomorrow. Okay, you guessed it! TGIF. That’s what I live for these days. The ridiculously long school hours are driving me and the kids bazoozles!

I have to prepare 2 sets of school lunches each as they have two breaks. Sometimes they only have one break for 9 hours of school so I tell my kids to just eat when the teacher’s not looking. Otherwise they will starve and come home with stomach aches and then have no time to finish the mountain of homework every day! These are truly the most ridiculous days we’ve had and we still have a whole year ahead. Duh!

trouble snapping back, anyone?

I can’t believe this is only the third weekday of the year. Feels like the 300th! Indeed me and the kids are having a tough time snapping back to rigid school routines. The getting up early and endless running is giving me a headache I’ve nursed since Monday. Anyone else having trouble getting back to the grind?

the slacker plays catch-up

I’ve been a slacker. That’s what I’ve been! The days are zooming way over my head and I haven’t even had time to breathe. First off, I’m trying to make a little pocket money this time of year so I’ll be able to have that extra cup of Starbucks coffee and a nice handbag. If you’re looking to save some money too, check out great Christmas deals here.

Then there’s all this holiday activity – shopping, planning – you know the drill. Kinda builds up on ya, doesn’t it? I was a little under the weather the past few days. Got the sniffles like half the world out there, and wasted an entire Sunday sleeping away the cold medication, duh!

butter in the rain

I went out in the freakin’ storm to buy butter. Well, actually it hadn’t started raining when I left but it was pouring by the time I got to the baking supply store where I usually buy my butter. It costs less than the one at the grocery store for the same brand, so why not? It’s not that I drive there just to buy my supply. I only stop by if I happen to be at the vicinity.

And it’s not like I like buying from this store either. All the staff there have long, sour faces. They only talk and laugh amongst themselves and if you ask them a question, they ignore you and give you curt answers.

If you need them to get you something, they’ll make you wait and wait knowing full well that your car is probably double-parked outside. The place is a parking nightmare! Glad I got my butter today, a lot of it, so I won’t have to go back too often    !

trip to the mechanics

Looks like my car needs another trip to the mechanics, grr! Quite honestly, I hate going there because I just never know how long they’re going to take to fix whatever the problem is.

If it’s just a couple of hours, it’s pointless for me to catch a cab home, so I have to hang out in that crummy, stuffy room and try to read a book. Key word, try!! So let’s see how it goes today  .

out of hair shampoo

OMG, I’ve been so busy I didn’t even realize we ran out of hair shampoo. I used to be the chronic bulk purchase freak but my kids have been complaining about how certain brands of shampoo have been making their head itch. OMG!

So I’ve buying one bottle at a time of different brands to try out. Hence the problem of not stocking up. We’ve never run out of shampoo before  . Better put it on my grocery list right now before I forget.
