how long till TGIF?

Do you sometimes feel like time flies and sometimes you just can’t zoom to the weekend quick enough? That’s exactly how I feel now. Please tell me the weekend is almost here. I desperately need to get out of the house and out for some fresh air and sunshine.

A couple more days till Friday, right? Yes, that’s all I need to know. The countdown starts now. The past few weeks have been stressful and hectic and any chance to wind down and take a deep breath is much appreciated.

busy days!

The days are getting warmer and we’re spending more time indoors trying to save money on sunblock, bwahaha. Okay, I’m kidding. The truth is I’ve been so busy with a thousand things on my schedule that I just haven’t had much time for much else.

My blog has certainly suffered from a lack of posts lately. Being a mom certainly isn’t easy. There’s just no end to the “excitement” !!

long-lasting batteries

These are busy days indeed. I’m just so glad the weekend is almost here because I really need a break after this hectic week. Well, my kids are already planning what they want to do this weekend. I’d really rather just stay home, read a book and rest my feet. Kids have boundless energy and never seem to get tired. It’s almost like they run on long-lasting batteries. Wonder where I can get some of those  !

beware of rocks!

This has not been a good day. I had to send my minivan into the workshop again because it’s making funny sounds. I hate that when it happens because it’s so distracting and I keep wondering where the sound is coming from. The workshop was a nightmare and Mr Mechanic was too busy to attend to me so I ended waiting for over an hour before he even looked at my car  !

After taking a brief look, he suggested I send my car in next week so he can spend more time isolating the problem. So off I went, having wasted an entire morning. I was driving along the highway when I saw what I thought was a clump of old newspapers on the road. I didn’t have time to swerve and drove over it. Turned out the newspapers were a rock and I busted the oil cover or something and my minivan had to be towed in for repairs *sobs*! What a crappy thing to happen.

cafe’s open

Okay, I’m hanging the “OPEN” back on my kitchen door. My new oven has arrived and Mom’s cafe is back in business. Yay for the kids, my poor deprived kids who haven’t had any ‘real’ food since my trusty old oven decided to quit on me.

I roasted some chicken drumsticks and potatoes yesterday and they were a hit with the kids. For the first time in months, my kitchen was filled with the heavenly aroma of chicken on the roast. My kids couldn’t wait for dinner and they really licked the platter clean in no time.

More cooking this weekend, that’s for sure  !

yay for retail therapy

An entire morning of shopping has left me completely zonked out today. There’s a huge sale going on and I only shop when the sales are on. I don’t believe in paying retail price if I can help it. Working from home and managing a household means I have to tighten my purse strings whenever possible.

This morning, I was like a child in a toy store. I had so many things on my list especially clothing. But clothing is probably the hardest to buy since I’m quite picky and the lines are long at both the fitting rooms and at checkout. So I ended up spending on every other thing but clothing, which wasn’t how I’d planned it!! But so be it. At least I enjoyed the retail therapy.

the weekend is here

Yay, yay, yay is all I can say! And it rhymes too. It’s been too hectic a week and I desperately need to kick my shoes off for a bit. But seeing as how that’s easier said than done, I’m not holding my breath as I’m all set to cook up a storm this weekend. Nothing special, just that we’re between school exams so we should probably stay in so the kids can get some studying and I can get some nagging done.

struggling through the rain

Today was one of the craziest days. Ever! I’ve been up since the crack of dawn and not stopped till now. I was out in the freaking electric storm picking up one kid after another. Do you have any idea how hard it is for the kids to struggle into the car with their heavy schoolbags and umbrella?

And my car ends up half-flooded from all the water brought in from the rain. Not to mention the number of traffic lights that had gone bust. And trees having toppled down from the sides of the roads onto cars that were stuck in traffic. It took us hours to get home!
