madwoman

November has really flown. I barely noticed that we’re 20 days into November already. These few weeks, I’ve been running around like a madwoman, checking out schools for the kids and getting them registered before the end of the year.

I’ve been out every single morning this week and coming home only in the afternoon. I haven’t had time to cook a single lunch this week. So we’ve been eating out. Not that my kids mind, it’s just that good food at affordable prices isn’t exactly the easiest thing to find when you live in the city.

Next week is going to  be another busy week as I have to meet someone important downtown. At the rate I’m going, I’m bound to forget something, and it looks like I may need to upgrade my system memory (yes, my brain is working overtime these days  ) so I don’t mess up. Yesterday I left the house without my cell phone!! Duh!

two more days to the weekend!

This time of year is usually pretty laid-back as we head into the holidays. Not so this year. It seems I’ve been going back and forth to my kids’ school getting my youngest registered for next year, attending their prize giving ceremonies, …

My son’s finals are still on and some days, the exams start at 7am. Can you believe that? This means we have to be out the door a little after 6am to get him to college in time. Heh!

As a result, I’m pretty tired. There’ll be more running before this week is over. Won’t I be glad when the weekend comes  ?!

out of gas?

I went to the gas station to top up my gas yesterday. I usually try to do that before Monday so that I won’t have an extra thing to worry about as another week of madness starts.

Well, guess what, when I got there, there were orange cones and streaming tape criss-crossing the gas pumps. I opened my window and shouted across to ask one of the workmen what was happening.

He said they’d run out of gas. Huh?? What do you mean, run out of gas? I asked. Well, apparently over the weekend, the entire supply at his gas station had been guzzled up because of the drop in price.

I knew I shouldn’t have waited till the last minute. Bad idea. I went home with an empty tank and had to get up early to go fill up before my taxi runs start today.

car battery goes flat on me

My car’s battery decided to go flat on me this morning just as I was about to leave for the gym. Duh!

What a drag, right? I’m just glad it didn’t die on me yesterday because it would’ve ruined my weekend. I had groceries to do, a birthday dinner to attend, so yeah…

I’m now waiting for the mechanic to show up with a new battery and get my car running again. I’m jumping up and down here because I’m going to be seriously late picking up my kids at school today. Grr!!

starting all over again

Admittedly I am just a tad disoriented and distracted right now. Nothing to worry about though, I haven’t been drinking and I sure don’t need alcohol rehab  .

I think I wrote about my youngest daughter just having finished her major exams. Prior to that, I was, of course, like a flustered mother hen making sure she stuck to her revision schedule, ate brain the proper food, got enough sleep, bla bla bla.

Well, that’s over now and it should be a big relief to me… except my other daughter is going to be sitting for HER major exam next month. Okay, so you get the picture now?

I confess me being a worry wart isn’t helping at all. The vicious cycle starts again. I’m getting all worked up again over the study hours and the food and the sleep. Duh!

It sure looks like I could use a drink, a strong one right now. Only trouble is I don’t drink. So I’ll probably grab myself a coke and hope that that’s not going to send me into alcohol rehab  .

quiet weekend

We’ve had a very quiet weekend, quieter than almost any recent weekend. It’s only this quiet when the kids are busy preparing for their year-end exams.

Now that they are teens, I don’t really have to be constantly on their backs to study any more. They pretty much know what they have to do.

What puzzles me though is how they can concentrate when they’ve got MP3s plugged into their ears all day long.

I mean, they can’t even hear me when I shout for them to come down for meals, so how can they hear their internal voice when they’re studying?

tying the knot soon?

With wedding season just around the corner, I have many friends who are running around like crazy trying to get their weddings organized. It can be quite an involved and stressful stretch for those who are working fulltime jobs as well.

Well, unless they know of a good place online to source for stuff. One of my friends told me they just might have to do that since both she and her groom are very busy with projects at work and don’t have time to be physically scurrying around to get things organized.

So far, they’ve already found some unique wedding favors at The Knot Wedding Shop and they’re thrilled to bits. They’re definitely going to go back there over the weekend to look around and hopefully find some other supplies they need.

a nutritional supplement drink maybe

I pretty much grew up popping vitamins. So I guess that’s why I always worry about my kids not getting all the nutrition they need, what with the busy life we lead.

Sometimes we just don’t eat right in all that hurry to get some place all the time. I’ve got bottles of vitamins in the fridge but getting the kids to remember to pop them on their way out is harder than you think.

I’m actually thinking of getting a nutritional supplement in liquid form like duocal which they can easily gulp down after breakfast. It’d be great but I need to check first if they’re suitable for kids.

Wednesdays

It’s mid-week finally. Once we get past Wednesday, it’s the weekend staring at us right there. So who doesn’t love a Wednesday?

Actually Wednesday is my busiest day. I practically have taxi runs stretching all the way till 8 o’clock tonight. I have to get dinner ready before I go on my last run so that by the time we get home from picking the kids, we’d have dinner ready to eat.

Aargh, don’t remind me it’s Wednesday today!

da haze is back

Well, I’ve just cooked some spaghetti and packed a lunchbox of it for my youngest daughter who’s going to be staying back late in school. It’s kinda cloudy outside but you know what, the haze is back.

I can smell it and I can see it. I’m just glad this is the last week my dd will have to stay back in school because I really don’t appreciate all that dust that she’s breathing in.

In fact, just the thought of stepping outdoors is not very welcoming. I’m already feeling sticky and icky and I take 3 showers a day!!
