The weekend is here and I sure could use a break. And just in time too because I stumbled upon this vacation rental commercial which really cracked me up. Yes, I needed a laugh that bad.

This guy by the name of Unitard goes around saving families from getting themselves trapped in a vacation rental that’s less than what it should be – bad service, crammed rooms, no scenic views, you get the picture.

And he tells them they don’t have to settle for less than a perfect vacation if they go over to Vacation Rental.org and pick out an entire house by the beach or on a hilltop and have themselves a vacation of a lifetime for the whole family. Although school has reopened and it’s probably way too early to be even thinking about holiday plans, my friend’s kids are already starting to talk about what they want to do on their next break.

Now the poor mommy has no choice but to start surfing the net for Spiderman Tickets and The Addams Family tickets. The kids don’t know it because she wants to surprise them after she gets the tickets. Oh, how sweet!

Since they’re on a budget, she also has to start putting some money aside so she and her husband can also get some Houston Rodeo Tickets for themselves. I think they deserve a night out. They’re always so busy with the family it seems they hardly get any time together.

With the holiday season just around the corner, pretty soon the kids will be out of school and complaining about being bored at home. Luckily they’re pretty good about entertaining themselves by watching TV.

That’s what keeps them occupied when I’m out shopping or when they get bored talking on the phone or listening to their MPs. My girl friend has signed up for Direct TV and I’m thinking of doing the same. I’m going to pop over to her place to check out the Direct TV packages she’s subscribed for before I decide which ones I want.

But yes, my kids are doing pretty good in school and I think they deserve to enjoy some great Directtv. Can’t believe I just said that . It’s also a great way to keep them out of my hair while I’m busy with holiday preparations.

I hope you guys had a great Halloween. Mine was a blast, not that we usually celebrate Halloween now that my kids are somewhat too old to go trick or treating.

Well, guess what? We went to a rock concert and partied the night away. Yes, little ol’ me and the kids. Great stuff, I tell ya. And now I can officially say I’m a rock concert freak !

We found a great way to cool off last weekend. Seeing there’s been no let-up in the hot sunny temperatures, we’re trying to head to the malls whenever we can. Like I mentioned before, we didn’t air-condition our entire house so unless we want to hide in our bedrooms all day, we’re off to the mall.

Guess what, last weekend the annual fashion shows were on. What a treat! We got to sit in air-conditioned comfort with nary a drop of perspiration dripping down our brows and first-class seating on wooden benches to watch anorexic model after anorexi model strut down the runway . Now this IS the life!

The kids and I watched “Fast and Furious” over the weekend and it was great. We haven’t been able to stop talking about it since. I’m not sure how I missed watching the second and third parts of this movie but this one was pretty exciting, very exciting in fact.

Dom Torreto (Vin Diesel) teams up with Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) again after he loses his girlfriend and decides to go after the baddies who did it. That sums it up in one sentence and doesn’t sound like much. You’ve got to watch the movie at the cinema to fully appreciate the sound effects and the car chases on the big screen .

After all the rushing around last week, we’ve had a very quiet day today. Whew! We all slept in because it’d been raining all through the night and the weather was too cool to be true. No bright sunlight streaming in through our windows before 7 to wake us up.

We watched Quantum of Solace which left us sorely disappointed. Whatever’s happened to the Bond factor in these past couple of so-called James Bond movies?

I remember Bond as being a debonair gentleman with a sense of humor who drives flashy cars, uses fancy gadgets, fights nasty-looking villains and surrounds himself with sleek beauties.

Sadly these were missing in Quantum of Solace. Even the villain didn’t look menacing at all. What’s up with James Bond these days? He seems to be a changed man. Has he lost his touch?

Last weekend, DH sneaked out and came home with a Playstation 3. Now I’m not quite sure who he bought it for but one thing I know for sure is that my teens are not into these games.

They’ve got their own favorite online games which they much prefer. So I’m guessing he bought it for himself. Yep, I’m pretty sure of it. He even canceled his golf game to stay home and play . Funny guy!

What may not be so funny is that we’ve already got a heap of white elephants in the store room. He just likes to buy these big boys’ toys but he also abandons them pretty quickly.

I’ve been threatening to call in the moving services guys to cart them away. On second thought, I might just decide to auction them off on ebay or something and make a little spare change while I’m at it.

Can you believe I actually dragged myself to watch two kiddy movies last weekend? We got free tickets to Wall-E and Star Wars, the Clone Wars.

We couldn’t give the tickets away and we didn’t want them to go to waste. So we went. Of course, the hot dogs and popcorn are always a good reason to go to any movie, free or otherwise.
