bummer!

I’ve slacked off from the gym for over a month and just gone back this week. So happy to be back and loving it. But guess what? The gym is closing next week for major remodeling and won’t reopen for over a month. Boo-hoo! Where am I going to go now? Guess I’ll just walk up and down the stairs??

haven’t lost a single pound

I’ve gone back to the gym to work out… religiously. No more excuses. Yeah, I know I could come up with an excuse, just like that, to make myself feel better but I won’t.

Truth is I enjoy working out. It gives me a rush afterwards that sometimes lasts for days. I haven’t lost a single pound in all the years that I’ve been working out.

Is that good or bad? Depends on whether I’m trying to lose weight or not. And I’m not  !

no sense of personal space

I just don’t get it with some people. I was at the gym today working on a machine that’s kinda squeezed between two other machines. The gym is not very big which explains why they had to cram all the equipment together. Anyhow that’s never been a problem before because most of us respect each other’s personal space.

If I wanted to use a machine next to one that someone else is working out on, then I just wait a while and go work on some other machine in the meantime. Not this guy. He plonked himself right next to me although it’s pretty obvious space is rather limited. What a jerk!

excuses, excuses

I missed gym for two whole weeks. I have so many excuses up my sleeve I thought I’d put them to good use  .

One morning, I woke up and it was raining so I said to myself, okay, not going today, it’s raining and I don’t want to get stuck in traffic.

A few other mornings, I slept in because the weather was cool and the kids and I had been having late nights since it was the school break.

Another morning, a girl friend invited me to breakfast and of course, how could I say no?

What’s your excuse for not working out?

me and my mp3 player

Believe it or not, I’ve got my own MP3 player. So far, the only place it’s been is to the gym with me  .

I only listen to it if the volume of the gym TV is turned too low for me to hear what’s going on. Otherwise, I’d be watching the news.

Ever since the gym manager got fired, things are so disorganized. Like some of the TVs and air-conditioners are sometimes not on, and we have to run around looking for the switches ourselves.

Anyways, I was thinking I might download some free audio books to listen to. I’m not sure if it’ll work on my MP3 player but it’d be a nice change to listening to the head-banging music my kids have loaded in for me  .

Not that I don’t appreciate what they’ve done but sometimes I need a little peace and quiet, ya know.

eleven golds and counting

The other day, I stopped to watch the Olympics men’s swimming event and was impressed by how Michael Phelps managed to ace it in such easy-going strokes.

Today I read he’s the “winningest” (does such a word even exist?) Olympic athlete winning his 11th gold medal, five of which are in the five Olympics events he’s competed in so far.

Apparently he’s pretty nonchalant about his historical wins too. Wow, what a guy. And of course, I’m constantly amazed at how competition swimmers glide so effortlessly across the water. That one gets me every time!
